Natan Heber was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1975. At the age of 12, he moved to Penápolis, where he began developing his artistic abilities at the Musée du Soleil, an important influence on his early artistic education. There, he studied a wide range of techniques including painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. His talent quickly distinguished him among the young artists at the institution. At 17, Heber won first prize in an art competition sponsored by the Government of the State of São Paulo, receiving the award from the state governor.

 

In 2000, Heber began teaching drawing and painting and founded the Nankin School of the Arts Studio. The studio attracted many students and emerging artists and became recognised for the quality of its teaching. During this period, Heber developed artistic projects, gave lectures, organised exhibitions and delivered art courses for children through schools and local government programmes, with the aim of introducing young people to the arts.

 

In 2005, Heber moved to London, where he continued to develop his artistic practice and pursue his fascination with classical painting. Inspired by the city's architecture, history and cultural environment, he developed a distinctive body of work encompassing paintings, illustrations, portraits and drawings. He has also taught Old Master painting techniques at the London Academy of Art.

Heber's work is characterised by a quiet elegance and refined attention to detail. He draws inspiration from people and everyday life, animals and, particularly, the natural world. His paintings combine carefully observed details with harmonious compositions, while his restrained use of colour and expressive brushwork create a sense of tranquillity and reflection.

His work is deeply connected to memory, emotion and an appreciation of beauty. Whether portraying a landscape, an animal, a portrait or an everyday scene, Heber seeks to capture not only the outward appearance of his subjects but also the atmosphere and emotion within them. His paintings invite the viewer into a world that is both intimate and timeless, where simplicity and refinement coexist.

Natan Heber has established a growing presence in Japan, where he has held annual solo exhibitions in recent years. His work has received strong attention from collectors, with his 2025 solo exhibition selling out completely.
